The Alliance of Oberhausen Citizens (BOB, spelling "B | O | B") is a group of voters in the city of Oberhausen and a member of the state association of free voters in North Rhine-Westphalia . The alliance is registered under the number VR 5691 in the register of associations at the Duisburg District Court.

history

The founding was announced at the beginning of December 2013 and took place on January 5, 2014. According to the company's own understanding, it is “a democratic association of citizens from the middle of society.” The founding members had previously been involved in various citizens' initiatives or as individual actors in local politics. In some cases they had already joined forces in the “Wir sind Oberhausen eV” association, which, however, still exists alongside the alliance. Individual members of BOB had previously been active in other parties, namely the Greens and the Pirates . BOB ran in the local elections on May 25, 2014 . In the election campaign, BOB positioned itself primarily as an opposition to the SPD , which has dominated Oberhausen local politics for decades and accused the BOB of being a “special democratic felt party”.

In the 2014 local elections, BOB received 6,056 votes, which corresponds to a share of 8.58%. As a result, BOB was represented in the city council with 5 out of 60 seats. BOB was also able to move into the three Oberhausen district representatives with 1 of 19 ( Alt-Oberhausen ), 1 of 17 ( Sterkrade ) and 2 of 15 representatives ( Osterfeld ).

After internal disputes, two members were expelled from the BOB council group at the end of February 2015. This constituted itself on March 2nd as a group without parliamentary group rights under the name " Bürgerliste Oberhausen ". This group was also joined by the previous BOB representative in the Alt-Oberhausen district council.

The chairman of the BOB council group was Karl-Heinz Mellis until December 2015, Werner Nowak from January 2016 and Peter Bruckhoff since January 2017.

On February 28, 2017 Nowak resigned from the group in the Council; Since then, Bruckhoff and Mellis have formed a group that appears as the “BOB in the Council”.
