The initiative Bürgerbahn instead of Börsenbahn is an amalgamation of several transport experts against the capital privatization of Deutsche Bahn . It is committed to maintaining Deutsche Bahn in line with its “traditional public responsibility” instead of turning it into a profit-oriented company listed on the stock exchange . The initiative was formed at the turn of the year 2000/2001.

The spokesman for the nationwide initiative is Winfried Wolf , publicist and former member of the Bundestag . Other supporters include a. Karl-Dieter Bodack and Heiner Monheim . Also Hermann Scheer and Peter Conradi this included.

According to the initiative, the nationwide transport of citizens should be the guiding principle of Deutsche Bahn. The initiative fears the closure of unprofitable railway lines in favor of a thinned network of efficient long-distance lines, if it came to a capital privatization of the Deutsche Bahn.

Bürgerbahn instead of Börsenbahn is one of the founding members of the Railway for All Alliance .
