The middle school of the East Westphalian city of Minden is now a listed building in the upper old town of Minden and is entered under the number 92 in the monument protection list of the city of Minden .
history
The school was built in the upper old town as a community school between 1834 and 1835 and inaugurated on January 5, 1836. In 1838 the city of Minden took over the sponsorship of the school. On April 1, 1894, it was converted into a full middle school. The school was used as a school until the end of the 1980s, most recently as a branch of the Freiherr-von-Vincke-Realschule Minden . In the 1990s, individual classes of the Weser College were housed here until 1997. Subsequently, consideration was given to adding the building to the Minden Museum . When this could not be implemented, the city of Minden sold the building.
building
The building is structured around a central corridor, from which four classrooms branch off on each floor, so that the building had 8 classrooms. In 1903 another floor was added to the classically structured house, so that there were two more reserve classes and a conference room on the top floor. After the sale of the city of Minden, this house was converted into a building with condominiums for upscale needs. An apartment was created out of two classrooms, an elevator was installed in the right wing and an underground car park was built behind the house.
