The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (Engl. United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs UNODA , French. Le Bureau des affaires du désarmement ) is a department of the UN Secretariat to limit the task of nuclear proliferation and disarmament in the range of Promote nuclear , biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction . In addition, it also supports disarmament efforts in the conventional area, with a focus on landmines and small arms , which play an important role in modern conflicts.

The Office for Disarmament Affairs was founded in 1998 under the then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan . Izumi Nakamitsu has been the current High Commissioner for Disarmament Issues and has been Chairwoman since 2017 .
