The bust of Napoleon II ( French monument commémoratif de Napoléon Ier ) is a monument to Napoleon II in Ajaccio , the capital of the island of Corsica .

It is located in the old town of Ajaccio, on the northwest side of Rue Saint-Charles opposite the Maison Bonaparte , the house where Napoleon II's father, Napoleon Bonaparte was born .

Design and history

The bronze bust standing on a high pedestal made of red granite shows Napoleon II as an eight-year-old child. The gaze is directed towards the house where he was born. On the clothing typical of the time there is a badge on the left. The curly hair falls down to the shoulders. The monument was inaugurated on February 2, 1986, the 150th anniversary of the death of Madame Mère , Napoleon's mother and grandmother of Napoleon II.

In front of the monument there is a stone slab embedded in the ground with an inscription:

Ce buste à été érigé le 2 février 1986, jour du centième anniversaire de la mort de Madame Mère
