The Büttel Canal , also called the Büttler Canal, runs in Schleswig-Holstein between Büttel on the Elbe and the Kudensee . When the Kiel Canal was built, it was divided into two sections.

The almost eight kilometer long canal was built in 1765 and was mainly used to transport peat that was reloaded in the Büttel harbor for onward transport to Hamburg, but also to improve the drainage conditions in the Kudensee lowlands. The Kudensee is the last remaining of the Dithmarsch lakes that were once formed from sea bays. Today the canal is no longer of economic importance.

In current topographic maps, the section from the Kiel Canal to Brunsbüttel is referred to as the Burg-Kudenseer Canal .
