technology

The system is based on a display data module with an e-ink display that is subsequently attached to the case . This has the dimensions 143 × 68 × 11 mm and weighs 110 g. It is protected against dust and water according to IP65. The connection to the smartphone is via Bluetooth . To do this, the case must first be paired with the smartphone. A pairing button is attached to the module for this purpose. After the module is coupled with the smartphone, luggage tags can be transferred to the respective airline's app. Since e-ink displays only need power when the display content is changed, approx. 2500 transmissions can be made with a 3 V button cell . If the batteries are removed after the luggage tag has been transferred to the display, or if they lose power (e.g. due to age), the content of the display will still be retained.

Apps

The BAGTAG app is available for iOS from 8.4.1 and Android from 4.4.

Alternatives

Alternative systems for electronic baggage tags are the Rimowa Electronic Tag System and the IATA Electronic Bag Tag System , which is currently being developed .
