The Wöllersdorf I – IV were four direct current locomotives for the works railway of the kuk ammunition factory in Wöllersdorf , the Wöllersdorfer Werke .
The number I delivered in 1913 probably originally had a three-phase drive, but was later converted for 800 volts direct current, with which it was aligned with the numbers II-IV delivered in 1916. The locomotives were structurally and visually similar to the locomotives Eg 5–6 of the Pozsony Országhatárszéli Helyiérdekű Villamos Vasút (POHÉ.V.).
After the First World War , the ammunition factory was shut down and the locomotives turned off. The machines I, III and IV were sold in 1930 to the Stern & Hafferl Verkehrsgesellschaft , the number II was sold to the BBÖ for use on the Pressburger Bahn and passed on to Stern & Hafferl in 1956. The respective new owners converted the machines. The table shows the technical data of number II (first named: POHÉ.V., second named: Stern & Hafferl). Stern & Hafferl referred to the machines as E 20.001, 002, 005 . For the BBÖ the former number II ran as 1479.01 .
Although the 1479.01 was the most powerful DC locomotive in terms of tractive power on the Pressburg Railway, it was not very popular due to its susceptibility to failure and difficult maintenance, the manufacturer Ganz & Co. from Budapest was now abroad. The color scheme was white and brown in the colors of the Pressburger Bahn, but the entire driver's cab up to the frame was brown, the stems were painted white. The Deutsche Reichsbahn designated it as E 173.01 from 1938. It suffered several damage during the Second World War , but was repeatedly repaired.
In 1947 it was awarded to Stern & Hafferl, finally sold to the company in 1956 and designated as E 20.005 " . The intended number ÖBB 1979.01 was never written on this vehicle. Today, the locomotive, designated E 22.005 , is used on the Linz local railway .
