BIC Platform is a modular all-in-one solution for the digital transformation of companies. It can be used in different areas of the company and, for example, for the business process management (Business Process Management), risk management and business intelligence to be used. All modules of the BIC Platform can be used stand-alone or can be combined with one another as required. The tool contains functionalities, methods and algorithms for the digital recording of processes, integration of documents, control of governance workflows as well as for the analysis and automation of work processes. The BIC Platform is a completely web-based application that can be operated as a private cloud , public cloud or on-prem .

Manufacturer

The manufacturer of the BIC Platform is GBTEC Software AG . The software and consulting company was founded in 2004 and has its headquarters in Bochum (Germany). Further branches are located in Munich (Germany), A Coruña (Spain), Vigo (Spain) and Brisbane (Australia). GBTEC is listed as a representative provider in the Gartner "Market Guide for Enterprise Business Process Analysis" published on November 19, 2018.

development

The BIC Platform entered the market in 2020. The BIC Platform is the successor to the BPM Suite BIC Cloud, which was first marketed in 2017. The further development of the products belonging to the BIC Cloud as well as the integration of new product lines led to a rebranding of the entire product family. The BIC Platform currently comprises five software solutions: BIC Process Design, BIC Process Execution, BIC DPA, BIC GRC and BIC Process Mining. The latest version is the BIC Platform 6.3. All software products are continuously developed by the manufacturer and supplemented with additional functionalities.

Functions

The BIC Platform is primarily used for digital transformation and business process management. Due to the additional functionalities, the software is also used for the following applications: quality management , risk management, governance , risk and compliance management, process automation and RPA, process intelligence and as an integrated management system .

The BIC Platform has a modular structure with the following software modules :

  • BIC Process Design : BIC Process Design is the modeling component of the Transformation Suite. In BIC Process Design, users have the option of documenting processes in all common modeling languages (e.g. EPK , BPMN 2.0, WKD, DMN ) and then publishing them. BIC Process Design also has an integrated release cycle management. This enables structured, multi-level releases of process models in line with corporate requirements. BIC Process Design also includes document management . This means that users can upload and manage documents and link documents with existing process models.
  • BIC Process Execution : BIC Process Execution is a predefined automation solution that seamlessly connects to the BIC Process Design modeling tool. From technical process models that were modeled in BIC Process Design, digital checklists and workflows on a zero code basis are automatically generated in BIC Process Execution. This enables the previously modeled processes to be carried out directly in the software, without any programming effort. By using RPA technology, time-consuming, manual steps can also be systematically automated.
  • BIC DPA : BIC DPA is a platform for the automation of complex business processes. It provides the necessary technology modules for the architecture and automation of work processes and serves as the basis for a tailor-made configuration. By providing zero code and low code workflows, the programming effort required is reduced to a minimum. BIC DPA is therefore suitable for both citizen developers and professional developers. Citizen developers can create an automation solution that is suitable for their specialist area without any programming knowledge. Professional developers have the opportunity to use the existing technology modules to develop additional components for fully customized automation software.
  • BIC GRC : BIC GRC is a specially predefined solution for the area of risk management and enables automated governance, risk & compliance management. BIC GRC has standard workflows that automate the recording and evaluation of risks as well as the implementation of controls, adequacy and effectiveness checks. In this way, holistic control of risk management and compliance with regulatory requirements are ensured. BIC GRC can be used both as a stand-alone solution and in combination with BIC Process Design. When the two modules are integrated, the risks modeled in BIC Process Design are automatically transferred to BIC GRC and can be further processed there.
  • BIC Process Mining : BIC Process Mining is based on the open source tool Apromore and, thanks to integrated algorithms, enables real-time measurement and monitoring of business-critical work processes. With BIC Process Mining, real processes can be visualized, monitored, automated and optimized as BPMN2.0 models, among other things. For this purpose, process-relevant data, which can be available in a wide variety of IT systems, is imported and evaluated using data science processes. In addition to process visualization in real time, BIC Process Mining also enables the comparison between different process variants, conformance checking and predictive process monitoring.

distribution

The BIC Platform is currently used by over 700 companies worldwide. Customers include medium-sized companies, large international corporations, DAX companies and public administrations. Since the BIC Platform can be used in any sector, the customers come from a wide variety of business sectors, including automotive (e.g. Magna International and Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst ), energy (e.g. e.on and Vattenfall ), finance and insurance (e.g. . B. Wirecard and LBBW ), Aviation (z. B. Airbus and Rolls-Royce Group ) and much more.

Awards

The BIC Platform is an award-winning software that has received the following awards, among others:

  • Winner of the category BPM 2017 of the Initiative Mittelstand
  • Process Solution Award 2016 by the Society for Organization (gfo): Together with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, GBTEC was awarded 1st prize for the most innovative and exemplary project in the "Process Modeling" category.
