BKChem is a drawing program for creating chemical formulas . The program is available under the GPL license and was originally developed by Beda Kosata in the Python programming language . The program is, according to the developer a Feierabend project , available today in development and currently in version 0.13.0.

Platforms

BKChem is an open source program and is therefore available as source code . There are compiled program packages for Windows XP , macOS and Linux . Adapted program packages are available in the repositories for many Linux distributions .

Program features

In addition to drawing chemical formulas with reaction arrows , radicals , electron pairs and charges , BKChem also masters templates . The export of the structures to SVG (with optional Cairo support), Open Office , PDF , EPS , MDL Molfile , PNG , SMILES and InChI is supported. Molfile as well as SMILES and InChI (the latter both without stereochemistry) can be selected as import. German , English , French , Czech and Polish are available as language versions .

Start screen

When starting the program, the THC molecule, one of the psychoactive ingredients in cannabis, appears as the start screen .
