history

In 1874, Carl Johann Freudenberg voluntarily founded a health insurance association for his employees, from which the BKK Freudenberg later developed. Since the passing of the Health Insurance Act on December 1, 1884, the Health Insurance Association has been a statutory health insurance company.

BKK Freudenberg is a public corporation with self-administration . The self-governing body is the board of directors. The board of directors consists of employer and employee representatives. At the public constituent meeting, the alternating chairmen were elected from among the members of the Board of Directors. From July 5, 2017, they will alternate between Mr. Walter Petryk (insured person) and Mr. Andreas Kurch (employer representative).
