history

The BKK Westfalen-Lippe was founded in 1889 - as a health insurance for the road construction administration of the province of Westphalia. In the course of the following years, the fund was involved in numerous mergers, so that the BKK Westfalen-Lippe was created through the mergers with BKK Vestische Straßenbahnen Herten (1997) and BKK Stadt Hagen (1998).

In 2010, the BKK Westfalen-Lippe was one of the first health insurance companies in Germany that had to use the additional contribution for the individual health insurance fund in addition to the income from the health fund .

The BKK Westfalen-Lippe was merged with the BKK on site on October 1st, 2010 .

In 2009, the BKK Westfalen-Lippe was awarded the rating A for the best range of services in North Rhine-Westphalia by the health insurance company Compass .
