Mace Moulton (born May 2, 1796 in Concord , New Hampshire , † May 5, 1867 in Manchester , New Hampshire) was an American politician . Between 1845 and 1847 he represented the state of New Hampshire in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Mace Moulton attended public schools in his home country. Then he worked as a carpenter. For more than 20 years he was deputy chief of police in Hillsborough County before he became sheriff himself in 1840.

Politically, Moulton was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1844, which were held nationwide for the last time, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC for the second mandate of New Hampshire . There he took over from Edmund Burke on March 4, 1845 . By March 3, 1847, Moulton had only one term in Congress , which was overshadowed by the events of the Mexican-American War .

After his tenure in Congress, Moulton was a member of the New Hampshire State Council from 1848 to 1849. He also returned to work as the deputy chief of police. Burke became a member of the board of directors of Amoskeag Bank , at the same time he was President of Amoskeag Savings Bank until his death in 1867 . Mace Moulton died on May 5, 1867 in Manchester and was buried there.
