Frank Christopher Guinta (born September 26, 1970 in Edison , New Jersey ) is an American politician . From 2011 to 2013 and from 2015 to 2017 he represented the state of New Hampshire in the US House of Representatives .

Life

Frank Guinta attended the Canterbury School in New Milford ( Connecticut ) until 1989 . He then studied at Assumption College in Worcester ( Massachusetts ) until 1993 . He then worked in the insurance industry and as a clerk in the judiciary ( Law Clerk ). Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 1999 he worked for the New Hampshire State Insurance Department ; between 2000 and 2002 he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives . From 2002 and 2006 he was a City Councilor in Manchester . There he also served as mayor until 2010. He served on the staff of Congressman Jeb Bradley in 2003 and 2004 .

In the 2010 congressional elections , Guinta was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of New Hampshire , where he succeeded the previously defeated Democrat Carol Shea-Porter on January 3, 2011 . In the 2012 congressional elections , Guinta ran again against Shea-Porter and this time lost 45:50 percent of the vote. Therefore, he left the Congress on January 3, 2013 . During his first term as Congressman, he served on the Budget Committee , the Transport and Infrastructure Committee, and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, as well as six sub-committees. The organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington lists Guinta in its reports as a corrupt MP for financial irregularities during his 2009 election campaign.

In the 2014 congressional elections , Guinta and Shea-Porter met for the third time. This time the Republican was able to prevail again with a share of 52 percent of the vote and replace his Democratic opponent in Congress on January 3, 2015. Two years later there was another election duel between Guinta and Shea-Porter in the 2016 elections, which this time the Democrat won. Therefore, Guinta resigned from Congress at the end of the legislative period on January 3, 2017.
