Orren C. Moore

Orren Cheney Moore (born August 10, 1839 in New Hampton , Belknap County , New Hampshire , † May 12, 1893 in Nashua , New Hampshire) was an American politician . Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the state of New Hampshire in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Orren Moore attended public schools in his home country and then completed an apprenticeship in printing. Then he became a journalist. In 1869 he founded the Nashua Daily Telegraph. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1863 and 1878 he sat several times as an MP in the New Hampshire House of Representatives . In 1878 he was a member of the tax commission of his state; between 1879 and 1881 he was a member of the State Senate . In 1887 he was re-elected to the House of Representatives of his state. From 1884 to 1888, Moore headed the New Hampshire Railway Committee.

In 1888, Moore was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the Second Congressional District of New Hampshire . There he took over from Jacob Harold Gallinger on March 4, 1889 . But since he was defeated by the Democrat Warren F. Daniell in the elections of 1890 , he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1891 . After his time in the House of Representatives, Moore resumed his old journalistic activities. He died in Nashua in May 1893.
