Nathaniel Appleton Haven

Nathaniel Appleton Haven (born July 19, 1762 in Portsmouth , New Hampshire Colony , †  March 13, 1831 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1809 and 1811 he represented the state of New Hampshire in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After a good primary education, Nathaniel Haven studied medicine at Harvard College , later Harvard University , until 1779 . After becoming a doctor, he began practicing in his hometown of Portsmouth. He also worked in trade. In the final phase of the War of Independence Haven was used as a ship's doctor.

Politically, Haven was a member of the Federalist Party founded by Alexander Hamilton . In the 1808 congressional election, held nationwide, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC for the fourth mandate from New Hampshire . There he took over from Jedediah K. Smith on March 4, 1809 . Until March 3, 1811 he could only complete one legislative period in Congress .

After his time in the House of Representatives ended, Nathaniel Haven was no longer politically active. He died on March 13, 1831 in his native Portsmouth.
