Jared Perkins

Jared Perkins (born January 5, 1793 in Unity , Sullivan County , New Hampshire , † October 15, 1854 in Nashua , New Hampshire) was an American politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the state of New Hampshire in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jared Perkins attended public schools in his home country. After studying theology and being ordained a clergyman in 1824, he practiced this profession alongside his other activities for the next 30 years. Perkins was also politically active and became a member of the Whig Party . Between 1846 and 1848 he was a State Councilor in New Hampshire. In 1850 he was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

In 1850, Perkins was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the Third District of New Hampshire , where he succeeded Democrat George W. Morrison on March 4, 1851 . Since he lost to Harry Hibbard in the 1852 elections , he was only able to complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1853 . In 1854 Perkins was appointed Justice of the Peace. In the same year he was nominated by his party for the upcoming gubernatorial elections. But he died before election day.
