The BMW Group Research and Innovation Center ( FIZ ) is a research facility of the BMW Group at Knorrstrasse 147 in the Milbertshofen-Am Hart district of Munich . Around 20,000 employees work in FIZ on 500,000 m².

history

The BMW FIZ was built in 1986 on the area of ​​the Alabama depot .

Since October 2017, the center has been expanding under the name “FIZ Future” on an area of ​​100 hectares. Up to 15,000 new jobs are to be created by 2050, and the office space is to grow by 50 to 80 percent. The BMW Group is investing € 400 million in this. The research focus will be the electric car and autonomous driving .
