BZN , an acronym for Band Zonder Naam (German: Band without a Name ), was one of the most successful pop groups from the Netherlands . It was founded in Edam-Volendam in 1966 by Jan Veerman (vocals), Jan Tuijp (bass), Gerrit Woestenburg, Evert Woestenburg and Cees Tol (guitar).

Since its inception, BZN has released more than 60 albums. 25 of them achieved platinum status in the Netherlands .
After moderate initial success with instrumental and later with hard rock, the big breakthrough came in 1976 with the Dutch number one hit Mon amour and the album Making a Name , released at the end of 1977 .
From the initial line-up, only Jan Tuijp and Cees Tol were there, followed by Jan Keizer (first drummer, later singer), Thomas Tol and singer Anny Schilder. The line-up changed over the years, so Anny Schilder left the group in 1983 and was replaced by Carola Smit. In 1988, after the departure of the brothers Cees & Thomas Tol (themselves successful with the 1990 hit Eleni ), Dick Plat and Dirk van der Horst joined them. Due to a serious illness, the late Dirk van der Horst left the group in 2004 and was replaced by John Mayer. The “Final Tour” took place in June 2007, the farewell concert was on June 16 in Rotterdam.
Under the direction of producer Roy Beltman, they created the paling sound that is still successful today .
