The B Pfalz 80 is a two-axle compartment car . Originally procured as type AB wagons , they were re-designated as type B wagons in 1907 . The cars are summarized here according to sheet no. 022 and 023 from the WV of the Royal Bavarian State Railways - Palatinate Network, drawn up as of March 31, 1913.
procurement
In total, only three wagons of this type were procured by the Palatinate Railways on behalf of the Ludwig Railway . As part of the 1907 class reform, the cars were downgraded to type B cars while maintaining the seat allocation .
commitment
Since they were procured at the expense of the building account of the Palatinate Ludwigsbahnen, they are likely to have been used mainly on their routes.
Whereabouts
Nothing is known about their whereabouts, as the wagons of the former Palatinate Railways were not listed separately on the Reichsbahn , but were listed together with those of the KBayStsB . Due to the old age of the cars, however, it is unlikely that they will be used by the Reichsbahn after 1930.
Constructive features
Underframe
The chassis frame: The car was still built in a combined wood and iron construction. The outer longitudinal beams were made of profile iron while the buffer beams and all cross members were made of wood. The outer side members were double T-shaped. The wagons had screw couplings as a towing device, and the drawbar was spring-loaded all the way through. The wagons had rod buffers with an installation length of 650 mm as bumpers . The buffer plates had a diameter of 370 mm.
drive
The wagons had riveted half-timbered axle brackets made of flat iron with the short, straight design. The axles were stored in split sliding axle bearings. The wheels had spoked wheel bodies and a wheel diameter of 1,024 mm. The elongated suspension was attached to the spring brackets with simple straps. The cars were only available in a braked version. The brakes acted on all wheels on both sides.
Car body
The car body consisted of a wooden stud frame, the side walls were slightly drawn in downwards, the end walls straight. The roof only had a flat curve and a skylight structure. The coaches had a total of a 1st class compartment with six upholstered seats and three 2nd class compartments with 8 upholstered seats each. The cars all had long sidewalls with handrails on the car body.
Furnishing
The car had four gas lights built into the skylight for lighting. The pressure vessel with a volume of 650 liters required for the supply hangs under the car body in the direction of travel.
The heating took place via steam.
For ventilation, the wagons had louvred fans in the skylight roofs.
