Baalis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baalis (also Ba'alis) was at the beginning of the 6th century BC. Chr. King of the Ammonites . He is named in the Bible as the commissioner of the murder of Gedaliah , the governor of Judas after the conquest of Jerusalem by the Babylonians ( Jeremiah  40, 14  LUT ). Baalis is attested extra-biblically by the archaeological find of a seal on which his name is mentioned and he is referred to as the king of the sons of Ammon .
