Baba Shah Isfahani
Baba Shah Isfahani (also Bābā Shah Esfahāni ; Persian باباشاه اصفهانی, DMG Bābā Šāh Iṣfahānī , bɑbɑʃɑh ɛ ɛsfɑhɑni ; * unknown; † 1588 in Baghdad ) was a Persian calligrapher of the 16th century and the most prominent calligrapher of the Nastaliq script in the era of Tahmasp I. He was dubbed "Reis or-Roassa". His calligraphy teacher was Ahmad Mashhadi . In his youth he traveled to Iraq in 1588 and was killed in Baghdad, where he was also buried. His works date from the years 1569 to 1586.
