Babylon Sad was a Swiss death metal band from Zurich that was founded in 1991 and disbanded in 1993.

history

Bassist Wilhelm “Tschösi” Kühne and guitarist Daniel Raess initially worked together in the Swiss band Messiah , before they decided to found the band Babylon Sad in 1991. In 1992 they went to the studio with singer Nenad Dukic, guitarists Bruce and Christian Muzik, drummer Peter Haas, who had previously worked for Calhoun Conquer , Krokus and Mekong Delta , violinist Priska Gut and keyboardist Marco Wolf to record their debut album, while Kühne took over the bass and vocals and Raess the electric guitar and vocals. The album was self-published in 1992, with a print run of 2,000 copies. In 1993 the line-up of the band changed: Kühne devoted himself to other projects, such as Fear of God , while singer Dukic Sickening Gore joined. The group now consisted of the guitarist Raess, the singer Michael Dietschy, the keyboardist Wolf, the bassist Dennis Dopheide and the drummer Curtis Moffa. The band signed a record deal with Massacre Records , about which the debut album was released around 1993 in a newly mixed form. The cover was changed and two bonus songs were added to the album. The band broke up that same year.

style

The band played varied Death Metal on their only album Kyrie , with the songs being particularly variable in their speed. The singing is very low and guttural .
