The Backnang town house

The Backnang town hall is a listed building that was built by Heinrich Schickhardt in 1625 . It is located at Marktstrasse 31 in Backnang .

history

Schickhardt built the town house in 1625 on behalf of the Württemberg bailiff Jacob Bestlein, who used it as the official residence. In 1693 the building was destroyed in a city fire and rebuilt around 1698 and 1699. Another renovation followed in 1750 and in 1785 the Backnang town hall received a half-hipped roof . A half-timbered house was later added to the building . From 1878 to 1921 the town house was the office building of the Reichspost ; In 1927 the city acquired the building and used it as a branch of the town hall and until 2006 for the office for family, youth and social affairs.

In 2008 the German soccer player Mario Gómez bought the house. Since then it has been operated as a hotel and event location Alte Vogtei .
