Baden-Württemberg Weightlifting Association

The Baden-Württemberg Weightlifting Association, with its headquarters and state performance center in Leimen , was founded in 1972 by a working group between the Württemberg Power Sports Association and the South Baden and North Baden Heavy Athletics Association. The three associations merged on October 21, 1973 to form the Baden-Württemberg Weightlifting Association (BWG). The BWG has the task of promoting the maintenance and dissemination of weightlifting , powerlifting and recreational sports in the association area. While maintaining political, religious and ethnic neutrality, the association seeks to achieve this purpose by:

  1. Organization of Baden-Württemberg championships and other competitions
  2. Participation in national and international sporting competitions of the Federal Association of German Weightlifters (BVDG) at home and abroad
  3. Promotion of recreational sports
  4. Representation of interests in national sports organizations of the BVDG etc.
  5. Creation of competition regulations for weightlifters and powerlifters in accordance with national and international rules as well as recreational sports regulations
  6. Implementation of training courses and courses for athletes, coaches, referees, officials and amateur athletes
  7. Communications to the press, the electronic media, the state districts and members
