The Badener Hof residential area in Heilbronn ( Baden-Württemberg ) was built on the site of the Badener Hof barracks (formerly Ludendorff barracks). In 2000, Badener Hof was one of six municipalities in Germany to receive the LBS coat of arms living on fallow land . Heilbronn and the Badener Hof were also awarded the first prize in this competition, which is awarded for exemplary and innovative services in the treatment of fallow land in metropolitan areas, because of its ecological planning concept. The new development area with the adjoining Köpfertal and the surrounding nature reserves offer recreational and leisure opportunities in the immediate vicinity.

history

The Ludendorff barracks was rebuilt in 1935 as a barracks for heavy artillery for the German Wehrmacht . After the Second World War , the barracks was used as a so-called "DP camp" until June 15, 1950. These camps were set up in Heilbronn by the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA), which was replaced by the International Refugee Organization (IRO) on July 1, 1947 , after problems in the city between the German population and the so-called . " Displaced Persons ", ie people who had come to Germany either during the war or through the war. The Ludendorff barracks was one of three of these DP camps in Heilbronn. On December 7, 1946, according to UNRRA statistics, 1,166 people lived in the barracks; In 1949, 1,069 people were still housed there, including former Polish forced laborers.

In 1948 the Ludendorff barracks were renamed “Badener Hof barracks”. It was occupied by American troops from 1952, which were withdrawn in 1992. After the city of Heilbronn bought the site from the federal government in 1994, the barracks buildings were demolished and the development plan for a new building area on the site was drawn up. This development plan came into effect in March 1998.

In 2004 a two-group kindergarten opened in the residential area. From 2012, plans began to expand the residential area by two 5-storey buildings with a total of 36 apartments.
