Badeni is a Polish noble family . In the 19th century, the Badeni were one of the richest and most powerful families in Galicia .

history

The family originally came from the middle classes of Lviv and was ennobled in the 18th century. Family representatives held important public offices in the Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania , Galicia, the Duchy of Warsaw, and Congress Poland .

Casimir Badeni († 1854), landowner near Lemberg, was raised to count by the Austrian Emperor Ferdinand in 1845. His son Ladislaus († 1888) was a member of the Galician state parliament . His son Kasimir Felix Badeni (1846–1909) was Prime Minister of Cisleithanien (kuk) from 1895 to 1897 .

As one of 64 noble families, the family had a hereditary seat in the manor house , the upper house of the Austrian Imperial Council .
