Remains of Badenyon Castle

Badenyon Castle is a stable about 12 km west of Kildrummy and north of the Coulins Burn in the Scottish county of Aberdeenshire . The castle dates from the 13th century.

history

In the 13th century, John O'Badenyon lived at Badenyon Castle . Later it became the residence of Clan Gordon from Glenbuchat , before they moved to the newly built Glenbuchat Castle in 1590 .

1898 some parts were the sandstone walls by the walls of the adjoining farm and a recessed door inside. In the meantime these remains have also disappeared.

architecture

The castle was surrounded by a moat and a tower protected it. A door hinge from a nearby building is said to have come from the castle. The exact location of the castle can only be guessed.

The Badenyon Lime Kiln is nearby .
