The Badestausee Rechnitz , also lake Rechnitz , located in Faludital on the southern slope of the Günser mountains on the outskirts of the market town of Rechnitz in the district of Oberwart in Burgenland .
history
The decision to build this first artificial bathing reservoir in Burgenland was made in 1961. It was filled with water from the Rechnitzbach and opened in 1964 for bathers.
description
It is about 300 meters long, a hundred meters wide and a maximum of seven meters deep. The lake is fed by the Rechnitzbach , which rises from the Geschrittenstein . The entire bathing area has an area of more than five hectares.
The lake is the starting point for numerous hiking trails through the Geschrittenstein Nature Park . A campsite for tents and mobile homes is available to guests on the lake grounds. In winter the frozen lake is an ideal ice rink.
