The Badische Allgemeine Versicherung AG (Badische Allgemeine) was founded on December 20, 1988 as a joint subsidiary of the Badischer Gemeinde-Versicherungs-Verband (BGV), Karlsruhe , and the public insurance company of the Badische Sparkassen ( ÖVA ), Mannheim , with headquarters in Karlsruhe and establishments in Karlsruhe and Mannheim. The new company made it possible for the BGV to operate in the market without any restrictions in order to also cover private insurance needs. Business operations began on January 1, 1990.
The shareholders are BGV and SV SparkassenVersicherung Lebensversicherung AG , Stuttgart , with quotas of 70% and 30% respectively. The statutory business area of the Badische Allgemeine includes the Federal Republic of Germany and the other member states of the European Union. The company is active in Baden as planned.
The business activities of Badische Allgemeine are essentially limited to self-concluded insurance business. The proportionate participation of the company in the terror pool of public insurers ( Extremus Versicherung ) is shown as assumed insurance business.
