history

To test the drive of railcars with accumulators, the Baden State Railroad converted a four-axle passenger car from the Rastatt wagon factory . The electrical equipment was supplied by Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft from Nuremberg. The tests took place on the Stahringen-Überlingen and Radolfzell-Stockach routes . After the end of the test phase of dismantling carried to a passenger car of the genus BCCI with the number 6607 and the group 93a.

Constructive features

The railcar had a conventional box frame consisting of longitudinal and cross members made of U-profiles. The car body itself was a wooden structure with sheet steel planking. The crossings at the ends of the car were closed. One of the end stages had been converted into a closed control compartment. Each side of the car had six entrances with single-action doors.

The vehicle had two bogies with an outer frame. The suspension was carried out by means of leaf springs over the axle bearings.

The batteries were housed in the folding bench seats. The lead accumulator had 156 cells and was connected in series when driving . The operating voltage was 290 volts . The weight of the accumulators made up 37% of the total mass. There were 18 slots on each side of the car for ventilation.

The two self-ventilated series motors transmitted their power to the ends of the axle by means of a gear drive.
