The BWR Wagon Repair GmbH (founded in 1897 as a wagon factory in Rastatt has) based in Rastatt , Baden-Wurttemberg .

history

The company was founded in 1897 and mainly manufactured railroad cars and vehicles for the tram . Up until the First World War , one of the main buyers of the wagons was the Grand Ducal Baden State Railways , and other state and private railroad companies at home and abroad were also supplied. Trams were manufactured for example for the OEG , the Kleinbahn Pforzheim-Ittersbach , Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe and the Stuttgart trams .

After Bauknecht took over the majority of the shares , the wagon factory was converted into a GmbH in 1971 . The business area was shifted away from production and towards repairing and converting wagons. After several name changes and takeovers, also because of the bankruptcy of Bauknecht, BWR Waggonreparatur GmbH was finally created .
