Bagh-e Naranjestan
The Bagh-e Naranjestan ( Persian باغ نارنجستان قوام Bagh-e Narandschestan-e Ghavam , DMG bāġ-e nāranǧestān-e qavām ) is the smallest garden in Shiraz . As the Persian name suggests, it is an orange garden. In the garden is the Naranjestan-e Ghavam pavilion.
The history of the orange garden goes back to the reign of the Qajar king Naser ad-Din Shah . Construction began in 1878 on the orders of Ali Mohammad Khan-e Ghavam and his son, Mohammad Reza Khan Ghavam , and was completed in 1888.
In 1965 the facility was lent to Pahlavi University . The building in the garden housed the Asian Institute until 1979, which was headed by Arthur Upham Pope . After the Islamic Revolution , it was turned into a museum.
