Ørestad is a regional train and metro station in the Danish capital Copenhagen , in the Ørestad district of the same name . The station is served by the M1 line of the Copenhagen metro system . It consists of two parts: the metro station, which takes metro line 1 running in north-south direction, and the regional train station located across it. The station was opened in 2000 for regional rail traffic, especially the Øresundstog and some InterCity lines. The metro station was opened on October 19, 2002 for the newly built Vestamager – Nørreport metro section. The underground station is above the regional train station.
