The Ōguchi station ( Japanese 口 駅 , Ōguchi-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshū . It is operated by the JR East railway company and is located in Kanagawa Prefecture in the area of Yokohama City , more precisely in the Kanagawa-ku district .
description
Ōguchi is a through station on the JR East operated Yokohama Line , which runs from Hachiōji to Higashi-Kanagawa . During the day, local trains run on the one hand between Hachiōji and Higashi-Kanagawa , on the other hand between Hashimoto and Sakuragichō (three times an hour each), which results in six connections per hour. During rush hour , up to 15 trains per hour are offered, with the majority running to Sakuragichō (in some cases to Ōfuna ). There is a bus stop in the western forecourt of the station, which is served by two lines from the Yokohama City Traffic Department ; another line stops in front of the east entrance.
The station is located in the eponymous district Ōguchi, which belongs to the Kanagawa-ku district. It is oriented from south to north and has two tracks, both of which are used for passenger traffic. These are located on a covered central platform , which is connected to the reception buildings on both sides of the route by a covered overpass (the larger one is on the west side). Three elevators ensure barrier-free access.
In the 2018 fiscal year, an average of 18,817 passengers used the station every day.

history
The Yokohama Line has existed since 1908, but no trains stopped here for almost four decades. The Ministry of Transport, which was then responsible for the operation of the state railways, opened the station on December 20, 1947. As part of the privatization of the Japanese State Railways , the station became the property of the new company JR East on April 1, 1987 .
