Architecture and history

At the end of the 19th century, the station, reminiscent of a manor , was built for the standard-gauge railway line Ballenstedt – Quedlinburg, which opened in 1885 . The facade of the asymmetrically designed building consists of red clinker bricks. The counter hall and the staircase leading to the station master's apartment have largely been preserved from the construction period.

The line was closed on January 31, 2004. The line between Gernrode and Quedlinburg was converted into a narrow-gauge line, which was incorporated into the Selketalbahn and inaugurated on March 4, 2006. Scheduled traffic has been running since April 26, 2006.

On April 4, 2014, the station building was auctioned for € 50,500. The minimum bid was € 12,500. The living and usable area of the building is 400 m² and the property is around 3,000 m².
