The Bichlbach-Berwang station on the Tiroler Ausserfernbahn is the common station of the communities of Bichlbach and Berwang . It is located in the municipality of the former town.
history
The station building with attached goods shed was listed until 2013 . It is a two-story building with an attic in the style of a Tyrolean farmhouse with a gable roof that covers a wooden balcony and is supported there by a wooden beam. The windows can be closed with wooden shutters. The building also has a canopy under which there are seats for the waiting passengers. The goods shed is located next to the station building and the loading ramp leading to it has been removed. The station clock is attached to it. On the morning of March 7, 2014, there was a fire in the station building, in which the roof structure in particular was significantly destroyed.
The railway facilities consist of two tracks with a house platform and another platform between the tracks. Because the station is used for train crossings and thus has a certain traffic significance, it was rebuilt by ÖBB Infrastruktur in 2010 . It received a new central platform 100 m long and 55 cm high with a waiting area for passengers. The siding was also extended. Since the station building with the goods storage facility was under monument protection at that time (monument protection was lifted after the fire), it remained untouched by the construction work. The track to the goods shed was dismantled.
traffic
There is a continuous hourly service (except mornings) to Reutte in Tyrol, also to Ehrwald Zugspitzbahn, in which direction most trains are extended to Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Munich Hbf.
