The Bochum-Weitmar train station was on the street An der Holtbrügge , at the corner of Karl-Friedrich-Straße , in the Bochum district of Weitmar . It was on the Essen-Überruhr – Bochum-Langendreer railway and the Bochum North – Bochum-Weitmar railway . The station was built in 1895. Among other things, it served as an interim storage facility for the Thyssen Krupp steelworks. The last train ran here in 1999.
The site became overgrown after it was closed . In January 2014 the area was sold to an investor and the former station building was demolished. The citizens' initiative Bahnhof Weitmar raised objections to the residential development on the development plan No. 946 in July 2014, but development is now well advanced.
