The Chelles-Gournay train station lies on the railway line Noisy-le-Sec - Strasbourg . It is located in the commune of Chelles in the Seine-et-Marne department .
The station is now operated by the French railway company Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF). Trains on line E of the Réseau express régional d'Île-de-France (RER) (ligne E) and trains on line P of the Transiliennetz stop here .

history
The station was opened on July 5, 1849, simultaneously with the commissioning of the Paris – Meaux section of the later Paris – Strasbourg line. The operator was initially the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Strasbourg , which was merged into the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Est in 1854 .
Like all stations in this section, Chelles initially only had a wooden station building, which was replaced by a stone building in 1847 and has since been rebuilt several times. The station has been called Chelles-Gournay since 1857 .
Since 1999 it is the terminus of the E2 line of the RER. In addition, the trains on line P des Transilien, which operate on the Paris-Est- Meaux line, stop .
The construction of the high-speed line LGV Est européenne, which runs towards eastern France, made extensive renovations necessary: the track layout was changed and the number of tracks increased from four to six. The middle pair of tracks has no platforms and is used by the TGV trains to Strasbourg and southern Germany or France. The station building was rebuilt. The construction work cost around 32 million euros. The line went into operation on June 10, 2007.
Use of the train station
In each direction of travel 4 to 8 trains of the RER line E or 2 to 4 trains of the Transilien line P leave every hour.
In 2005, the station was used by an average of 15,000 rail travelers a day, which is an increase of 38 percent compared to 1998. The bus station is in the immediate vicinity of the train station. This is served by two RATP lines, two Noctilien lines and the lines of four other bus companies. 7,000 bus passengers board here every day.
Future planning
Extension of the RER line
In the long term, the Transilien line to Meaux is to be replaced by the extended RER line. Of course, additional RER trains have to be used, but this will only be possible after the extension of RER line E to the west - which will not be the case until 2020 at the earliest. The current terminus Haussmann - Saint-Lazare is a terminus and has long since reached the limits of its capabilities.
Transfer station to line 16 of the Grand Paris Express
The tracks of the planned line 16 will run perpendicular to the tracks of the railway, but at a depth of 28 m below the surface.
