The station Harlingerode was from 1912 to 1987, a transit station in the former rural community Harlingerode with the station category 4 on the route Oker-Bad Harzburg . It was used for both passenger and freight traffic.

use

The station was originally approved for handling people, goods, luggage, private telegrams, corpses and live animals.

Passenger traffic was handled on the through track via the station building to the north, while the two southern loading tracks were intended for goods traffic and were used both by the H. Klages sawmill located immediately to the south and by the Hansa mine between 1936 and 1960 ; the latter transported the iron ore directly to the station via an above-ground cable car.

Regular train traffic ended in 1983, and passenger trains still stopped here until it was officially closed on May 31, 1987.

Until about 1999, the south track was used by the Sievers Granit company as a plant connection, before its use was finally given up.

history

Construction work on the railway system began on July 15, 1910. The station was opened together with the railway line on May 1, 1912 in the Duchy of Braunschweig . The opening of the station was celebrated with great euphoria among the local residents; one of the first passengers on the route and at the same time the only passenger who got off at the newly opened stop was ceremoniously led through the village by the local residents. Many locals had the village decorated as a "celebration" to celebrate the historic event for the place.

The economic difficulties of the nearby zinc smelter and the increasing use of automobiles meant that Harlingerode station was abandoned on May 31, 1987.

Subsequent use

The station building has been used as a residential building since the station was closed and has been rebuilt several times different from its original state. Public entry or entry and exit are no longer possible from here.

The southern tracks were separated from the through track after the cessation of operations and dismantled in the 2000s; the western section was completely demolished in the course of the settlement of a company, so that only the rudimentary railway sleepers have been preserved. The Südsteig has been preserved to this day.
