The Jujo Station ( Jap. 十条駅 , Jujo-eki ) is located in Kita-ku in Tokyo , Japan .

history

On June 10, 1905, the Nippon Tetsudō ( 日本 鉄 道 , literally: "Japan Railway") began provisionally operating as a freight station on the site of the later passenger station . However, this operation only lasted six months and was given up again on February 7, 1906.

It was not until 1910 that the Japanese state railway ( kokutetsu ) started a regular passenger service at this point on November 1st and opened today's Jūjō passenger station. At that time, the ring-shaped Yamanote line did not have its current shape and the station was therefore served by this line. This remained so until July 15, 1972, when the section between Ikebukuro and Akabane where the train station is located was renamed the Akabane Line . On September 30, 1985, the name Akabane Line was given up, as this completely merged with the Saikyō Line , which was inaugurated on that day , and the station has been served by this line since then.

On April 1, 1987, the station became the property of JR Higashi-Nihon, which had emerged from the privatization of the state railway .

Type of construction and tracks

The most common design of the station is a through station. It has two platform tracks which run in a north-south direction and are served from two side platforms .
