Walthamstow Central is a train station in the London Borough of Waltham Forest . The local transport hub , which also includes a station on the London Underground , is in the Travelcard tariff zone 3, on Hoe Street. In 2013, 16.68 million underground passengers used the station, plus 2.778 million railway passengers.

The above-ground station is on the suburban line of the Abellio Greater Anglia railway company between Liverpool Street Station and Chingford . Walthamstow Central is the northern terminus of the Victoria Line , this part is underground.

The station was opened in 1870 by the Great Eastern Railway , then still under the name Hoe Street . The opening of the first section of the Victoria Line towards Highbury & Islington took place on September 1, 1968. The bus station, which is located opposite the main entrance, was extensively renovated in 2004.
