history
On February 5, 2012 Abellio Greater Anglia took over the state transport contract Greater Anglia from National Express East Anglia in franchising .
On December 22, 2014, Abellio Greater Anglia began converting the British Rail Mark 3 trains . The long-awaited renovation includes new cable lines, closed toilets, improved WiFi supply, sockets at every seat as well as new carpets and seat covers. The renovation is expected to be completed in 2016.
On May 31, 2015, some routes in the London area from Liverpool Street station were handed over to Transport for London (TfL) and integrated into the London Overground and Crossrail networks.

design
Like National Express East Anglia, Abellio Greater Anglia has the same white paint on the rolling stock, but with red instead of blue doors. However, most trains still have the old National Express livery. At the end of 2013, the new Abellio Greater Anglia logos were placed on the trains.
hygiene
In November 2013, an online petition was launched with the aim that the Greater Anglia trains no longer dispose of the wastewater from the train toilets on the rails because the wastewater makes Network Rail employees sick.
