Arriva Trains Wales , Trenau Arriva Cymru in Welsh , was a British railway company headquartered in Cardiff . It was a subsidiary of Arriva and thus also of Deutsche Bahn and operated almost all regional and express trains in Wales and the adjacent areas in England , the so-called Welsh Marches .
On August 1, 2003, Arriva won the tender for the Wales and Borders route network. The concession ran from December 7, 2003 to October 13, 2018. Arriva Trains Wales was operated by Transport for Wales / Trafnidiaeth Cymru .

The main routes of Arriva Trains Wales were centered on the cities of Cardiff and Swansea , other important stations in England are Shrewsbury , Chester and Crewe . Trains have been running to Cardiff Airport since June 2005 . The company withdrew from the routes towards South West England in December 2005.
