CrossCountry is the brand name of the British railway company XC Trains Limited . It is a subsidiary of Arriva and thus also of Deutsche Bahn and operates several InterCity services within the United Kingdom .
Rolling stock
CrossCountry operates three train types on its route network, in addition to several sets of the older High Speed Train , these are also trains of the British classes 170 (called Turbostar ) and 220/221 (called Voyager ).
Route network
CrossCountry operates six main routes that extend over the Cross-Country Route , one of the main routes in Great Britain, from the southwest to the northeast of the country (CrossCountry = German across the country ) and have a common intersection in Birmingham :
- Route 1 from Plymouth via Birmingham New Street and Leeds to Edinburgh Waverley
- Route 2 from Reading to Newcastle via Birmingham New Street and Doncaster
- Route 3 from Bristol Temple Meads via Birmingham New Street to Manchester Piccadilly
- Route 4 from Bournemouth via Coventry and Birmingham New Street to Manchester Picadilly
- Route 5 from Cardiff via Birmingham New Street to Nottingham
- Route 6 from Birmingham New Street via Leicester to London Stansted Airport
This core network, which is served every hour, is regularly continued at its endpoints, for example from Plymouth to Penzance or from Edinburgh to Aberdeen .
