Silver link
Silverlink was a British railway company that owned the concession to operate a route network in north London from 1997 to 2007 . Parts of the route network also extended into the counties of Bedfordshire , Buckinghamshire , Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire . The company was part of the National Express Group , which operates across Europe in local and long-distance public transport.
history
Silverlink was established as North London Railways when the operating license was granted in 1997. Her area of responsibility was the operation and maintenance of the North London Line , a line that spans downtown London in a semicircle from Richmond in the west to North Woolwich in the east of the city. In the course of the company's expansion on the West London Line , Watford DC Line and the London - Northampton route , the name was considered inappropriate and Silverlink was chosen as the new name. The company was divided into two divisions: Silverlink Metro for connections in the immediate vicinity of London and Silverlink County for connections with longer distances and connections in the wider area of London.
In 2006, as part of a partnership with HSBC , Silverlink invested £ 13 million in an electrical and mechanical overhaul of the Silverlink County fleet. In addition, the trains in the Silverlink Metro area were continuously overhauled. Willesden Junction station has been equipped with elevators , renovated toilets and improved customer service. A customer lounge and information desk have been set up in Northampton. In addition, all stations were gradually equipped with camera surveillance and barriers.
The company's license expired on November 11, 2007. The Silverlink Metro routes (the North London Line, the West London Line, the Watford DC Line and the Gospel Oak to Barking route) were taken over by Transport for London that day and have been operated under the name London Overground ever since . The remaining Silverlink County routes were tendered together with Central Trains' routes as part of a newly formed West Midlands concession.
