The Heathrow Express is a railway line in Great Britain that has been connecting London Heathrow Airport with Paddington Station in central London since June 23, 1998 .

The line is operated by the Heathrow Express Operating Authority , a subsidiary of the airport operator Heathrow Airport Holdings . It is not part of the National Rail tariff system, which almost all other railway companies have joined. Trains run every fifteen minutes between 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. There are three train stations at Heathrow Airport, Heathrow Central, which serves Terminals 1 to 3, Heathrow Terminal 4 and Heathrow Terminal 5. To get to Terminal 4, you have to change trains at Heathrow Central at Heathrow Connect . The journey time is 15 or 22 minutes. It operate multiple units of type Class 332 used by Siemens and CAF have been developed.

The offer is particularly praised for its environmental friendliness and speed. However, there is clear criticism of the high fares. In 2015, a single second-class journey costs at least £ 21.50 (return ticket £ 35), and in first class it costs as much as £ 29.50 (return ticket £ 53). This makes Heathrow Express by far the most expensive inner-city train connection in Great Britain (although the fare can be reduced to a fraction of the regular price with various discounts such as early online booking). By comparison, a trip to the city center on the Piccadilly Line of the London Underground takes just under 50 minutes, but costs only between £ 3.10 and £ 5.10.

A trip on TfL Rail , which runs on the same route as the Heathrow Express but stops five times between Paddington and Heathrow Central, takes around 25 minutes and costs at least £ 10.10.
