Heathrow Connect was the name of a train connection between London Heathrow Airport and Paddington Station in central London . She associated with railcar of the British class 360 on the same route as the Heathrow Express but with more intermediate stops. Since May 2018, the route has been operated by TfL Rail as part of the Crossrail project .

history

Heathrow Connect started operations on June 13, 2005 as a joint venture between the rail company First Great Western and the airport operator BAA Limited . The offer was originally aimed primarily at BAA employees and residents of western London. The former receive a discount on the fare with their employee ID; the offer was initially less known to tourists. Heathrow Connect is now being advertised as a cheaper but slower alternative to the Heathrow Express.

In order to increase capacity, the four-part train units were lengthened by one car each in 2008. The former Heathrow Connect connections have been part of TfL Rail since May 2018 and will become part of the Elizabeth Line once the Crossrail is completed.
