Heathrow Terminal 4 Underground Station
Heathrow Terminal 4 is a London Underground station in the London Borough of Hillingdon . It is located in tariff zone 6, is served by the Piccadilly Line and opens up to Terminal 4 at Heathrow Airport . In 2016, 2.28 million passengers used the station. It is located on a single-track loop and has only one side platform. There is a pedestrian connection to the nearby Heathrow Express airport station of the same name .
The station was opened on August 12, 1986, together with the new airport terminal. From that day on, all Piccadilly Line trains ran on the single-track loop that runs from Hatton Cross via Terminal 4 and Terminals 2 & 3 back to Hatton Cross. Loop and station were temporarily shut down on January 7, 2005, to enable the construction of a branching structure in the direction of the new Terminal 5 . Meanwhile, Terminal 4 was opened up by a bus route from Hatton Cross. On September 17, 2006, the station and the loop were put back into operation.
Since the opening of the station under Terminal 5 on March 27, 2008, every second train has gone directly there, while the other half continues to use the loop.
