Milford Haven ( Welsh : Aberdaugleddau ) is a place in Pembrokeshire in Wales with just under 14,000 inhabitants. The oil refinery of Murco is the most important industrial company in the area. Other Esso and Gulf refineries were closed or partially closed. On their premises there are liquefied natural gas ( LNG ) terminals and interim storage tanks to cover 30% of UK gas requirements. The twin town of Milford Haven is Romilly-sur-Seine in France .
Milford Haven also designates the port of the place, which is twenty meters deep as the second largest natural port in the world (after Port Jackson , the port of Sydney ).
history
Henry VII and his troops landed at Milford Haven on August 7, 1485 to conquer the English throne.
In the 18th century, the place was a center of whaling and became an important seaport .
During the Second World War, three were located near the city of military airfields of the Royal Air Force ( RAF Station ), RAF Talbenny nine kilometers northwest RAF Dale eight kilometers west and RAF Angle four kilometers south-west on the opposite side of the Milford Haven Waterway . The last two were also operated by the Royal Navy as Royal Naval Air Stations . The airfields were closed again after the war, with Dale being used by the Fleet Air Arm until the 1950s .
Attractions
The large natural harbor and the city's marina are well worth seeing . The town also has a fortification ( Fort Hubberstone ), completed in 1863, and a culture and maritime museum. The nearby coastal national park with its sandy beaches and cliffs and the tidal island Gateholm , about 13 km to the west, also attract many holidaymakers.
traffic
Most of the traffic is on the water south of Milford Haven, which is used by excursion boats, oil tankers and yachts .
